First day for pupils at new £6.9m Gorseinon School

A £6.9m new school for Gorseinon opened to pupils for the first time today.
Excited children say they are really impressed with their new home which replaces outdated Victorian buildings and brings the infants and juniors together in a state-of-the-art development on a corner of Parc-y-Werin.
The project has been jointly funded by Swansea Council and the Welsh Government through its 21st Century Schools and Colleges Programme.
Local firm Andrew Scott Ltd was contracted to build the school and despite the coronavirus pandemic it has worked safely and within government rules to ensure it can open on time.
