Over £18.2 million paid out in business grants to support local economy

Grants worth over £18.2 million have been processed by the Council to help support East Dunbartonshire businesses through the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Council and Business Gateway East Dunbartonshire continue to receive applications, calls and queries from a wide range of local firms and enterprises.

Between November 2020 and 12 February 2021, the Council processed 2,173 grants – totalling £4,840,500 – providing vital support to local businesses.

That included 655 grants – £2,328,750 – in the space of a fortnight.

As part of earlier Scottish Government COVID-19 support packages, the Council paid out 1,414 grants with a total value of £13,455,715.

That is an incredible total of £18,296,215 – some 3,587 grants – for local firms, traders and job providers.

In addition, the Council’s Discretionary Business Fund opened for applications on 17 February – aimed at supporting those ineligible for other forms of Scottish Government business grant support introduced since October 2020.

A one-off grant of £4,000 is available to eligible businesses (conditions and criteria apply). Visit www.eastdunbarton.gov.uk/covid-19-business-support
