Portas Pilot – Gloucester’s bid

Following a report produced for government by Mary Portas on the state of the High Street in the UK (see www.communities.gov.uk/portasreview), the government has invited centres to put forward their proposals to pilot some of the recommendations from the report.
A partnership in Gloucester including the City Council, local businesses and members of the local community put forward a submission for the City in March 2012. The proposals emphasise a strong vision for the city centre, commitment from the local community and potential for improvement.
The government is expected to announce its chosen pilot areas in May 2012.
